My client is a market-leader with a superb array of projects in store for 2010, 2011 and beyond. With demand increasing from their existing as well as new clients they are looking to expand their capabilities within the Database space.
Working in the field of da ta driven analytics and software solutions I am looking for a candidate who has a range of skills across a number of areas. I am looking for DBA skills (eg Performance Tuning, Database Design, Database Management, Data Quality/Integrity) etc without this being a pure DBA position. The technical environment from a database perspective is predominantly SQL Server based although other RDBMS\' (eg DB2, Informix) experience alongside SQL Server skills would be highly regarded.
You will be responsible for managing my clients internal databases & extractions performed for their clients. The security, integrity and quality of the data and databases will be your primary responsibilty so I am looking for someone with a track record of being pro-active in terms of tuning, improving processes etc.
This role does have a strong business focus as well as you will work alongside Service Delivery Managers & Consultants to discuss data issues & their impact as well as understanding their business (Data Driven Analytics/Solutions) to be able to make suggestions about how to maximise the data available and leverage this effectively. You will be involved in Database Solution design so good skills in this area are key.
The role will have a software focus as you work to automate various processes as well as reviewing software packages used in the Consulting group. Because of this my client is looking for experience with Analytical software packages to compliment your database skills (SAS, SAS Macro, SQL, Splus, Excel/VBA).
There is a real focus on quality on in this role so strong documentation skills & quality control skills are essential so a quality/QA focus is also key.
This is an excellent role for a strong Data professional to take their career to the next level. Whilst SAS skills are preferred my client is willing to train applicants in this so any appreciation of other BI tools (eg Hyperion, Cognos, Business Objects) would be beneficial to help get you up to speed as quickly with the market leading BI software tool (SAS).
In terms of industry knowledge then experience within Retail Banking would be ideal but all industries will be considered.
