The primary purpose of this role is to develop and manage the regulatory strategy of issues concerning Telstra Wholesale to best promote and protect Telstra\'s commercial interests and favourably influence regulatory policy decisions.
Key accountabilities within this role include:
• Provide expert, trusted advice on regulatory issues affecting Telstra Wholesale.
• Identify regulatory issues and risks that may have an impact upon Telstra\'s commercial interests, its reputation and image.
• Develop and implement effective strategies for managing regulatory risks that affect Telstra Wholesale, for the benefit of Telstra\'s overall commercial interests.
• Argue Telstra\'s position on economic and policy grounds before external parties including the ACCC.
• Work closely with our Public Policy and Communications colleagues to ensure an appropriate media and government relations strategy is in place for each regulatory issue as appropriate.
The successful candidate will act professionally and become a trusted adviser to the business. The role requires a person who is self-motivated, pro-active and quickly able to identify issues and assess potential impacts of an issue across Telstra\'s business. A strong team ethic is required. The successful candidate will need to establish and maintain close working relationships with peers, key internal stakeholders including Senior Managers from various parts of Telstra\'s business, and external stakeholders including ACCC staff, to promote and protect Telstra\'s interests on various regulatory matters.
Excellent communication skills are essential, while a strong economics background is preferred. Experience in managing policy or strategic issues and knowledge of the telecommunications industry would be an advantage.
